De' Medici Briarwood Vase

This monumental piece is a faithful reproduction of an original vase owned by the renowned Medici family, the rulers of Florence from the Renaissance to the 18th century. The piece is hand-carved from a single block of wood and is then hand-finished in briarwood using a traditional technique of the city of Ferrara, another major Renaissance center in Northern Italy.
