The idea for the Muir sofa came about during a trip by Hannes Peer to the Northern California coast during a stay in a typical modernist house overlooking Muir Beach. The interior of this house was entirely covered with Douglas fir plywood panels and cushions. The absolute sensations and comfort experienced by Peer are conveyed through this particular sofa, made with a multitude of sections of mahogany-stained birch plywood and oversized relaxation padding.
